Welcome to the Future of Residential Development
Prestons Road Development Given the Green Light
The 203-hectare Prestons Road development has been given the green-light
under the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Act.
CERA announced on 1 November
that the Christchurch City Council had approved the land plan change application
essentially rezoning Prestons Road land into a Living G residential zone.
This zoning allows for a mixture of section sizes plus a shopping centre
and parks for up to 6,000 residents.
Gerry Brownlee, Earthquake Recovery
Minister, said that the Prestons subdivision had been fast-tracked as part
of the Government's special earthquake powers to bring more land to market
sooner.
Prestons Road Ltd, a joint venture between Ngāi Tahu Property,
CDL Land NZ and Foodstuffs, are now putting together a sub-division consent
application with the aim of lodging this prior to Christmas.

We Are Prestons
We offer Christchurch a new dynamic suburban centre - to be known as Prestons
and only 5.5 kilometres
from the Christchurch CBD. Approximately 200 hectares will be created into
a great place to live for
over 6,000 residents.
Nestled beside Burwood, and Waitikiri and Windsor Golf Courses, Prestons
is ideally located to connect to public transport, being so close to the
CDB, yet is also adjacent to the recreational area of Bottle Lake Forest.
Prestons has been Master Planned to create a new central village and commercial
area offering all local facilities, both commercially and community. This
central area will be surrounded by mixed density residential neighbourhoods
linked by lineal greenspace parks offering significant recreational opportunities
for the new community.
Earthquake Update
Following the 22 February earthquake in Canterbury, investigations at
Prestons have proved positive with no signs of liquefaction being reported.
Dr Jan Kupec, a Geotechnical Engineer with Aurecon New Zealand, has undertaken
further geotechnical assessment of the area and his report is available
for download here. You can also download a copy of the Christchurch
Liquefaction map from Aurecon New Zealand showing the local area around Prestons.
